Hey Kev, the way I look at any Studebaker, FIRST, is to make sure that those little "tracks", or slots, for the weatherstripping around the doors and trunk are still there and in good shape. If they are, there's hope and a LOT less work. From what I see, it looks like your car has a lot of potential. I'd already be driving that one! Congratulations!

1953 Commander Starliner, my favorite. It looks like a nice car. Do you have the parking light assemblies (grille bars) for it? If not, they are one of the few items on the exterior of the car that are the same for C/K as for sedans.

ya i have all the trim pieces that are removed from the car. and they are in excelent condition. in the third pick you can see the drivers side grill bar!! it was all removed from the car for paint and not all of it was reinstalled but all was saved!! still has the original jack in the trunk!! all door seal tracks are in excellent condition!! not sure if i will be able to save the original seats but i am sure they will at least be sat on to drive for awhile!!! this is a studebaker "drivers" club and i can finally be able to get one on the road!!!

Oh to be 15 years younger and starting where you are. You've got a great place to start. Do it proud.

If you get it home and decide you don't want it, I'll be happy to haul it off for you. Looks like a good start.

I am a bit skeptical those are the original vinyl seats. I thought the pleats were more narrow on the red vinyl interiors. Could be wrong though!!

This car (a '53 coupe, not hardtop if that matters) also has red vinyl and the pleats appear to be more narrow.

No matter, that looks like a pretty nice car!

Too bad far more of that model of Studebaker wasn't produced as they are very special. Congratulations on a very nice find!

Agree. That vinyl may be stretched over the original material; wrinkles at the bottom of the front seat and missing the hinge cover plates. Still, a precious find.
