V/8 Bell housing & adapter ID help!

Today I was looking through storage. I came across the NOS 4sp bell housing and an adapter that I bought in SB 1988. When I bought the bell housing there was an adapter leaning up against it. The vendor said it didn't go with it. I bought it just in case it did. The one set of holes lined up with the GM pattern and a threaded smaller pattern looked like the BW pattern. The bell housing is casting #1551117 that I confirmed with a search as a GM 4sp housing. But what application does adapter casting # 1563831 fit? It would bolt right up to the bell housing but the input shaft of the BW trans would be to short.

It's an adapter used on 1965-66 Studes with 194 six cyl. engine and T96 trans.

That makes sense. I have a 65 V/8 parts car that has an OD. Its trans is a T86 with a GM bolt pattern. No adapter there.
