Dana 44? <$200 on the ground from the junk yard... Don't forget you have to service this differential. I had the opportunity to buy a NOS Dana 44 with low ratio, 3 weeks ago for $400 and passed (I'm such a dummy)

      Hey Joe,
Make sure its a 44 before agreeing on a price. If its a 27 the price really drops quickly. I've driven cars for years with 27 without problems, also blown a few with a heavy foot.

Remember that in 1960 only Station Wagons and 289 Hawks had 44 Axles.

I think my family is on 3 27's now, scattered with 289 engines.

There will be either "44" or "27" cast into the web where the axle tubes enter the pumpkin. Often covered with with grime, etc, but always there.

I've found the TT 27's to be more fragile than the non-TT 27's.
