A new SDC member bought this car last week after the auction closed:
The new owner, Bob Fox is a friend of Indianapolis-area Indy Chapter member Dave Elmore. Dave has been into Studebakers forever and had helped his "old buddy" Bob work on several of Bob's cars, the most recent a very nice 1951 Kaiser Special 2-door, a rare body style for second-generation Kaisers.
Bob recently got more interested in Studebakers as a result of hanging around Dave, and decided to pursue this nice Lark when it didn't make reserve. He got together with the owner in Ohio, bought the car, drove it back last week, and drove it to our Indy Chapter SDC monthly meeting yesterday (Saturday, October2). He said it drives wonderfully, and I'll bet it does.
It is a gorgeous car; pictures almost don't do it justice. 'Good to see it back in Indiana, being cared for by a new SDC member, his first Studebaker, but someone who has a heart and place for collector cars. (Of course, chances are better than 50/50 his name would be Bob. <GGG>)
BTW, "Bob" now needs garage space and wants to sell the nice, white 1965 Buick Skylark coupe his father bought new that he is caring for. It's a plain-jane with V-6 automatic and that's about it. $5,900 on the Skylark, if anyone is interested. BP
