  • Stude hauling on IDYSD

It wasn't drivable, but at least I had it on the road on IDYSD, hauling it home from GA. It is a CA '58 Golden Hawk project with a load of parts. It is at end of album, which includes Steve Detch's Studes for sale, the Jasper GA car show, my favorite restaurant in Woodstock, GA; and the historic Ft Payne, AL depot.

Is there still a functioning Studebakers restaurant? That looks pretty cool, but I thought they all closed!

The STUDEBAKERS in the pics was a casino on I-12 near Hammond, LA, which was doing a good business. It did not look to be part of the Studebakers chain which featured 50-51 "ragtops" inside. I did not go inside to check, though.

The Studebaker Truck Stop and Casino is between Lafette and Rayne, La. My uncle and aunt live 3/4 mile north of Studebakers. They have a lot of Studebaker painting on the walls.
