I recently accquired many old hot-rod and custom magazines from the 50's. Honestly not much intresting in there though except this:

Published in 1952, 10 Page article about Vincent E. Gardner, who was a designer on-site for Studebaker during 1943-51. This article concerns his own personal car the "Gardner Special", a 1947 Studebaker 2dr, which he built during his years at studebaker. This article shows lots of pictures of his model clays, "bucking", and etc. I would venture a guess that some of these pictures were taken inside the Freeman-Spicer building.

Anyways, I don't have any means to scan the article but will send photocopies to anybody intrested for $3 postpaid to cover my copying cost.

He, and the car, were written up in TW at some point...can't remember when. Around 2002 maybe?

I remember the article in TW and I bought some snapshots of the same car. Is this the car that was in the article?

Looks somewhat Borgward-ish! Vince Gardner designed the 1956 Studebaker Sedans, I believe. One of the nicest looking Studes ever and arguably the best facelift of the 1950s.
