  • column gearshift, 63 Lark

How is the column gearshift attached on a 1963 Lark? I see that there appears to be a "pin" that sticks up a bit - is that all that holds it in place?

If I were to replace the gear shift level, would I need to remove the steering wheel, as well?

you can remove the gear shift lever with steering wheel "on". Drive the pin out with a small punch...replace the rubber grommet w/ S.I. new..

Second question - what color is my gear shift supposed to be? Chromed? Same as the interior? Right now it looks like unfinished dark brown metal.

Stu; a Cruiser, Daytona and a Custom '63 Lark would have a Chromed shift lever, a Regal or Standard would be the same color as the column, wheel and the bell it is attached to, on a Rose Mist car, probably Chestnut, (kinda between Maroon and Brown).
