  • worms(and other steering stuff)

I took apart the steering box on 5590 today and found out why it was kinda "rachety". It was full of rust!!hmmmm.
So now I need all the guts for a 16:1 ross Avanti box. I will replace the bronze sector bushings and seals, but need a good 'non rusted' sector shaft and worm gear. Also the plastic bearing spacers were shattered too.
I've been preaching "lube those boxes" for years. This is why.

Check with Studebaker International, between them & the old SASCO, I got all the parts I needed for my 52 Commander. I have been debating wether to use some CV joint grease or the original stuff that SI sells.
