Got so much response to my request for C/K Eye Candy, that I got inspired and bought a 61 Hawk this week. Now I would like to add as many 61 Hawk pictures to my album as possible. I only have about 3 or 4 from the Forum over the past year and a half.
Thanks for participating.2189

Is that all the 61's we can find on the Forum?

Nice pics as always Craig and great looking Canadian Black Hawk, but that is one strange and confusing Canadian Production Order for that Velvet Black '61 Hawk.
THREE count em, three entrys for Tires, one is: (5) 4-Ply 6.70X15 White Black Dominion Tires?, one is: ADD 5 4-Ply 6.70X15 Firestone White Sidewalls all in the special notes column.

Then in the strange Accessories list with Canadian speak: 6115VC6217 code 1762 we have the THIRD Tire entry: 567X15 4 Ply White Black
AND as if that is not enough it says TAS: Remove Wheel Discs. Probably meant to say TAG.
The 567X15 is an obvious typo for (5) 6.70X15

So that tells me that on 1961 Hawks Canada used: 6115VC6217 in front of a 4 digit number instead of our simpleton code for an Accessory: AC ! AMAZING!

And that is the same code they used for the '61 Hawk itself, (Model: 61115 VC6 217 61VC6 2DR) so each accessory is to be coded with the car model in front of a 4 digit number for the AC Accessory!

I account the few small simple typos to the fact that this is an early Production Order from when Newman & Altman was MANUALLY transcribing all of the detail text from the Original File Copy to a fresh blank Production Order form which they had stacks of, and the special linotype machine to ratchet feed them to be typed just as Studebaker did.

This one would be enough to keep Richard Quinn awake for at least 7 nights trying to figure out! ...Yikes, a serious nightmare!

It also makes you wonder what the deal is with: White Black? Well which is it?

I wonder if in Canada they had a few early production narrow Whites already in '61, before their release in late 1962 for year model '63, and did not know what to call them! :D

Thanks Rich! Did you not see that '61 Hawk before? I took those pics in Everett at the zone meet in 2004. Perhaps Stu Chapman can also solve this mystery as well. If you notice, the Hamilton plant still used 'Silver' in front of 'Hawk' as well, and some '62 G.T. Hawk production orders also have 'Silver Hawk' on them. I'd really like to know why they still used the Silver Hawk designation well after 1958.

Just Got back from the Vintiques Northwest Nationals in Yakima. There was one stock 60 Hawk in the show area out of 602 cars. And a 57 For Sale on a trailer in the Swap Meet area for $3500.00
Guess that has exhuasted the 61 pictures available from Forum Users.
Thanks for your efforts.

That stamped aluminum panel didn't appear until 1962. It is not correct for a '61 Hawk.

That almost covers all the '61 colors. The only ones I don't have a pic of is Desert Sand and the three Spring colors.

Dominion Tires?

Yes Rich, Dominion Tire & Rubber, based in Canada and got bought out by U.S. Rubber sometime in the 1930's, I believe. They used the 'Dominion' name until the late 1960's when U.S. Rubber decided to apply the 'Uniroyal' name for all their tires worldwide.
