  • Fix for vapor lock

My '56 Skyhawk w/289 stalls when hot. I recently learned that it's because of vapor lock from using gas with ethanol. It was recommended to use Sta-bil Blue, which I have purchased but not yet used. Does anyone have any experience with this?

If you are using gasoline with ethanol in it, you need to rebuild you carburetor with ethanol approved gaskets. I have no experience with the product you are asking about, but I have experience with ethanol gas. Install an electric fuel pump back by the gas tank (be sure it is ethanol compliant), and hide the switch in the cabin where you can turn it on when the vapor lock starts. Turn it off when the vapor lock is gone. There other ways, search for electric fuel pump in the archives.
