    Good afternoon,

I'm trying to put my Dad's '57 Scotsman back together. Unfortunately, I can't work on it safely because the hood prop rod is missing. Does anyone have a good idea where I can get one?

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

I guess the obvious move would be to contact Studebaker International. You can access them on this website byk clicking on "valuable links", then go to "vendors" and they will be listed alphabetically, along with many other vendors. Good luck.

However, In the mean time a 2X4 cut to the appropriate length (determined by where the ends can be safely resting) will not only support the hood but allow it to open wider to reduce those Stude scalpings.

Used that technology for several months while working under the hood of my 54K.

A mechanic I once used for my cars had a metal hood prop.
I do not know where it came from.
It was a metal stick with an adjustable center and clamps on both ends.
I would think something like a tension curtain rod would work (if you fit it in existing holes or clamped it).
