While I took my 1923 McLaughlin Buick, there were a few Studebakers at the show. One was right next to me as my competition (he won the class). A 1923 big six tourer. A huge and beautiful car. I did see one Hawk and two Avanti R1s. One restored and one original except for paint. Both put my Avanti to shame. It was a very good show, and the AACA put on a first class event. Oh, over 2,000 people were registered as attending.

If you want to see pics of some of the cars (there were 670 of them) and the Avantis, they are at

Wow. The quality and variety of cars at that show was fantastic. I wish I could have been there. There were several of the older ones that I can't identify.

The 1923 4 door touring car is owned by Jim and Nancy Heinsohn of Huntley, Illionis. He has three other 192X cars to include a 1929 President Roadster, which he told me has been featured in several magazines. In addition he has two 1951 Commander convertibles. Finally, he has a 1938 Coupe Express (pickup). All are restored and look fantastic in pictures.

The Avantis are owned by Robert Peles (gray car) and Augustino Capasso (white car)
