Nice looking '56 President Classic, but it is very unusual to see one that well restored as original but with the WRONG paint color.StudeRich

You've just gotta love a car with a story!!! I know this car has one, as I've seen it in the SNM at least twice now. It's sooo cooool to know Studebaker would allow such 'special' orders to be be built~
colors that were supposed to be 'only' for Golden Hawks ending up on a President Classic...
would the 'BIG' three have done that in 1956????

I remember many details of my first visit to the SNM. They were still in the 'old' building back in 2001-- September 11th to be exact. I'm sure everyone else remembers dumb details of that day just as I do.
One thing I remember for sure is that the signage on this car explained these colors were Golden Hawk only at the time it was ordered, but the buyer wanted them on his car. Stude built it his way. I may have taken a picture of the sign. If I do I will post it when I can.

ooops
Well-- I found the photo. But I resized it when I saved it from the cd~ now it's to small to read!!! Trying to blow it back up isn't working too well, either. My desktop crashed last month, so I have no way to look at the original sized photo.
I swear I know what I read though. Can I get an assist from someone in SB, please?

What Engineering Dept released was:
Paint: Ceramic Green Metallic Baking Enamel
Paint Symbol: BAK
Paint no. 1010
Supplier: Jones Dabney (paint) Co.
Now here comes the kicker; Studebaker Engineering Dept. could release any color paint they wanted for production use ...BUT ...Studebaker Sales & Marketing Departments dictated which model(s) Ceramic Green Metallic orders would actually be accepted for.
