Hub cap wheel clips on 1950 Champion

I purchased the spring type wheel clips from SI for two of the wheels on my "50." I also purchased the baby moon type caps from SI that are for that car. The "clips" do not feel solid to me and the caps do not seem to "seat in" deep around
the clips.

Has anyone reading this had any experience with these clips? Please let me know as I am about ready to test drive it down the road and I am concerned about a cap coming off before I travel very far. Also, has anyone figured out anything to help insure that the caps stay on-maybe silicone???

I would try matching any old beat-up original Hubcaps you have, to the Repro Caps and the same with the clips, then you will see where they went wrong.

Maybe just a little bending of the clips will make them match and fix it.
