Whose carbs did Studebaker use on the M5 6 cyl engines? Did they use more just the Carter I have?
I almost asked how many carbs did they use on the truck but I have learned you guys would have told me one on each truck

My parts book shows that the M-5 could be equipped with Carter models WAI-496S, WE-532S and WE-661S or with a Zenith 28BV10. The determining factor would be your engine number. If you post that here, I can tell you which one you should have.

Gary, my very late (March 8, 1948) M5 shipped with a Zenith 28BV10 with #10563 on the ID tag. I've been looking for one for 3 years. I learned a few days ago that certain International trucks from 1936 through 1941 and 1938 GMC trucks used the same carb. Perhaps there were others. The other two carbs, Carter 532 and 661 models are pretty easy to find --48M5

        David,

Do you still need one or would a kit do. I just had a local shop rebuild my Avanti carb and he has done a number of tractors for me in the past. If you need a kit I can check to see if Jeff can get you one.
