I need to know if the 1955 Coupe came with a padded dash? I have some hole in the dash that don't seem to be for anything. If it came with a dash pad are they available? Thank hope to have picture of the completed car soon. Thanks Bob 1944

    President C-K's have padded dashes

    Commanders did not

They all had a stainless strip below the rounded top portion
Could that be what the holes are for?

If there is a hole in the very middle of the "pad" area (even if it's not padded) facing the seat, then your wiper switch is missing. It's there, not in the instrument panel - probably a hold over from vacuum wipers?

The "padded" dash was simply a piece of plastic (like naugahyde) with a minute amount of padding, probably 1/32" thick, covering the dash from the windshield down to the chrome strip. The chances of that actually protecting your tender parts in a crash is about the same as your neighbor knowing the gap on your tappets. Looked neat, tho.

When I was in my "turquoise/white" stage of life, I painted the "pad" turquoise and the rest of the dash white. Interesting combo.
