Engine block to engine stand

Anyone know offhand what size bolts are recommended to attach a little 6 to a common engine stand?

I believe they are 5/16-24, same as the bell housing bolts. The length will depend on your particular stand. If you get them too long you can take up the slack with washers.

Is your bell housing still attached? Mine was and I had two problems. First I could not get more than two holes to line up (I used the top two). Second that long six and a bell housing made a stand designed for a small V8 more than a little unstable. It was not safe to rotate the engine (or lean on it!) without help.
