It sounds like the engine is its original color. (The green should be something like olive drab) The overspray on the valve covers is not unheard of, the bolt on pieces were painted separately then applied to the engine which was then painted. It might have been end of shift, or a apprentice on his first engine, or ..... the possibilities are approaching endless.

That is probably what it is. I didn't know the order in which they were assembled/painted. Since we are not going for that perfect pristine look anyway I might recreate it when we repaint just to keep it factory original with it's imperfections.

So can anyone tell me or direct me to a source on what should be painted what color. I've ordered the engine paint but other than that and the valve covers I'm not sure about everything else.
