  • Heater core

Since the dash is out of my lark, i figured its time to replace the squreeeeaaachllllllyyy blower motor and i took the core out of the housing as well to clean the debris off and flush it out. now the question, What kind of material should be used to seal the core back in the housing. it looks like it could have been wax....or some type of strip type caulk.

If you go to the parts store and ask for Dumm-dumm, you're not talking about the proprietor, your talking about 3M ribbon caulk. The Studebaker shop manual calls it Dumm-dumm but only mechanics with twill bibs know it by that name.

I have a 20 pound block of the real Studebaker stuff from SASCO. It's a tad hard after 50 years though.

        Stop bragging John <G,G>!
Seriously, will the stuff soften up with some heat or the application of a little solvent?

Thanks thats what I first thought to use (dumm-dumm) i was hesitant to call it that because i thought that was a local term, guess not? Also I wasnt sure if it would take the heat? I'll give it a try its not that hard to get back out should there be a problem
