  • OK, i feel dumb, how do I open this hood?

    to a 50 Studebaker commander. I bought this studebaker commander 4 door a couple of weeks back and opened the hood some how and took pics. Now I can remember where the latch is?????

    how do I open it. I need some shot because I may have to sell it as I just got hit wqith some medical bills and know these pics will be needed.

    can't help you as the oldest car I've owned is my '55, but DANG you are on the wrong coast. Just took a look at your web site and I would buy that pickup from your friend in a heartbeat if it were only somewhere near me (DC)

    I guess I will have to start looking for a job out west... you guys have all the good deals.

      Should be a "T" handle under dash to left of steering column marked with an "H".

        Yep, I pulled that first, but it didnt pop? HUMMMMMM. have to go out and try it again when the rain stops.

          Have someone lift on the hood while you pull that T-handle. Might just be sticky or the spring's sprung.[B)]

            Could be a corroded cable. It runs very close to the battery and I have sen them destroyed by battery acid; not good as they are hard to find. You may want someone to jump up and down on the hood (not quite serious) as you attempt to release the latch. Once open, saturate the entire cable with penetrant like PB Blaster and keep working it until it moves freely.
            Mine stuck fast once and I had to remove the grill to reach the latch from underneath.
