  • oil leak on flathead six

After changing the oil and filter on my 1951 starlite coupe,I noticed an oil smell in the car while driving.
Checking under the hood, I noticed oil on the head around the two middle sparkplugs.
I have cleaned this up a couple times but eh oil keeps showing up.
I am looking for some ideas how to fix the problem.

    Thank you in advance.

There shouldn't be any oil flowing through the head of a Champ 6.

Do you have an oil-bath air cleaner that could be leaking or over-full?

Alternately, a leaking hose for an oil filter and/or oil pressure gauge?

Often oil will come out the breather tube and wet the head - especially at highway speed on a loose 170 flathead.

Its done that on my 54 champion

Check and/or clean that road draft tube. Might be stopped up with dirt dobbers. Also soak and wash out the oil filler cap. If it's clogged up, you won't have any crankcase "breathing".
