  • Is this the correct R1 engine for my Avanti?

    I was thinking more about the R1 I got recently, and I thought to make
    sure my Avanti even has the right engine, if it doesnt, than it would
    not matter if I use the Super Lark engine :

    According to JDP :

    JT=R1 Lark/Hawk
    JTS=R2 Lark/Hawk

    R= R1 Avanti
    RS= R2 Avanti

    So I guess its a correct Avanti R1 then ... ?

    Tom,
    The building record would be the only way I know to determine if that is your Avanti's ORIGINAL engine. I'm sure you're already aware of that. The SNM now sells the BR's, but again I'm sure you know that as well Then why am I writing all of this[?] Go figure. Have a nice day

        It is a Avanti R1 engine, only the build sheet will tell you if it came with the car. It is a mid 63 engine.

            Thanks guys... Thats pretty much what I wanted to know, that the clues
            fit together decent enough. Mid '63 sounds about right.

                        I believe that it was built early in March of 1963.
