I bought what's supposed to be an NOS tailshaft for the trunk lock assembly on my Lark - you know, the part that always breaks? But when I got it, it was immediately apparent that it's not the right part and will not fit my lock housing.

You can see that while the tailshaft of the "new" part matches the old broken one perfectly, the headpiece that attaches to the lock cylinder is much different.

So what is this part for? Is it for an "original" Lark trunk lock housing? I'm pretty sure the busted part is an SI repro. Will this fit an original 63 Lark trunk lock housing? If so, does anyone have one?

One step closer, two steps back...

The bottom unit fits 62-63 Y-1 models. Part number 1343145. I can't help on the correct one for your car.

Hey 63 tl,
Just to cry with ya a bit, I bought 2 of the same you have on Ebay. Finally won the correct one. FYI, there was one recently that went for what I thought was cheap for one with the lock cyclinder and key.
They are hard to come by and last word I got no one is reproing them. Last year Dennis said he'd lost his remaker.

The part on the bottom of the photo appears to be what is used on the 'taxi-cab' latch. It has a C-K style T-handle to operate the latch so the operator didn't have to shut the engine off and take the keys to open the trunk lid.

Well, if anyone needs this part, please let me know. It appears I can't use it [V]

Clark,

I've got a '63 decklid in the "pile" out back. If I think about it today, I'll see if that actuator's still there. It was when I parted out the Cruiser it came off of.:D
