Just a quick intake manifold question. I notice that some 4bbl intakes have four carb holes all separated. I just picked up a 63 4bbl AFB stude intake and there are small 1" deep slots that connect pairs of the carb holes. Why are the slots necessary? Is that unique to AFB carbs?
