View Full Version : 65 Amp Alternator in a Hawk?

There a nice aftermarket Alternator for low money.
Does the Hawk or Avanti´s Amp meter accept a 65 Amp Alternator?
What happens if the Battery are empty, and a jumpstart is needed?

Lennart, I don't think it will matter if the amp gage swings all the way over and bumps into the pin. However, the real risk with putting an alternator that is a higher output than the original is that the original wiring was only designed to carry 35 amps. With more load and more output from the alternator you could run the risk of melting wires or worse yet setting them on fire.

No problem with the wiring since you'll be running a new wire to the battery anyway if it's internally regulated.
