  • Battery Tray and Scuff Plates

I hope someone out there can help me.

I'm doing a total restoration of a '55 Speedster and hope to have it done for the International Meet in Omaha this September. I've got all of the parts I need (so far) except I need a good Battery Tray and NOS or very good door scuff plates (also called sill panels?). The thin alumninum stampings that cover the lower floor/frame of the door opening. Does anyone have a suggestion to locate these parts or if you have some, can you contact me at jim.wilkerson@sas.com. I've checked with most of the major Stude vendors and no one has them.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jim W.

I THINK I have a good battery tray. I'd have to check. No battery hold-down bracket tho. SI's catalog shows they have those sill plates for $99.95 a pair.

Yeah, they're in the catalog but, according to Howe, the new dies weren't good or the supplier fell through or something. They don't know when or if they will have them.[V]

Be advised that the repro sill plates that were sold for years are not correct for an authentic restoration. (I know that "authentic restoration" is redundant, but I wanted to make sure that my point got across.)

Thanks to all for the feedback.

Yes, I also contacted SI and they told me they did not know when they might have those sill plates in. So, if anybody out there has a pair of decent/nice sill plates for a '55 hardtop please let me know.

Mr. Biggs, if you'd like to sell that battery tray, you can provide contact info to jim.wilkerson@sas.com. I'll give you a call to discuss.

          Regards,

          Jim W.

No, I have not had any response on the sill plates. What's your contact info, I'm very interested.
