Do the 1955 President gas tanks have a reputation for rust or no rust? Mine seems to be OK. I purchased it a year ago and have driven 2 or 3 thousand miles. I pulled the fuel filter and it seems clean. My Kaisers were a different story on rust in the tank, dark filter or plugged filter at 2 thousand miles.

The only ones I've seen with internal rust are the ones that haven't been filled and used on a fairly regular basis.
If you've had no problem and the filter's looking good I wouldn't be concerned. They will usually give some warning (choking on acceleration and dirty filter or fuel smell if leaking) if a problem needs addressed.Brad Johnson,
