  • what Pertronix works ?????

I want to put an electronic solid state ignition system in a 259. I have been looking at www.SummitRacing.com at the Pertronix brand. No Studebakers listed of course, so what car brand will work. What is the distributor in a 259 ?? Ford ??? GM ?? Mopar ??? What year range ???...thanks..BRAD

Which cap are you currently using?
The "screw" on GM cap....or the clip on Chrys. cap?

If the GM cap....the standard 57 to 64 Chevy V-8 unit. Mine's been working well for about 5 years now.

      Brad,

Check with Phil Harris at Fairborn Studebaker (Phil's email is: stude6@yahoo.com ).

He can steer you in the correct direction. I got my last two from Phil. Phil has the best Studebaker parts prices around, and a great guy to boot!

That 259 could use any one of several Delco or Prestolite Distributors. Phil at Fairborn Studebaker can help you determine which one you have, and supply you with the right Pertronix conversion.

I just purchased an Accel electronic unit for the Delco window distributor from Pep Boys. Any one ever go this route, comments , etc.?
