Anyone know of a source for 1952 Champion tail light seals and the trunk molding gasket? Seems SI and Sasco have most other years but us 52ers are a little left out.

I guess I can make the trunk molding gasket because I sure don't want to hang this heavy thing on my pretty new paint. What are the chances anyone can give me an idea or picture on what it was like? The Sasco online pics for 50 and 51 seem to cover the whole mating area.

I don't know about the tailight seals but the trunk seal should be the same 50, 51 or 52.

Seems like the 50 or 51 molding kicks up at the ends. 52 molding doesn't. Could be other differences too, I've only got the 52 piece to look at.

I think that he means the trunk handle gasket, not the trunk lid seal. Is my assumption correct, Michidan?

I didn't think of that, Gary. You're probably right. We did a 52 and had to make a pad for the handle from an innertube. I forget how we handled the tailight seals. I'll have to look next time the car comes in to the shop.

I have made a trunk handle gasket for a couple of different '52s. I use some sheet neoprene rubber found at a great Ma and Pa hardware store. This stuff is about 1/8" thick, and really protects the paint! I traced and cut the main (center)gasket using an old one as a pattern. The ends are basically smaller round pieces that have a hole to slip over the stud. I have a set of hole punches to make the stud holes.

yea...! Not the trunk seal, got that OK. Just the gasket behind the handle/emblem/trim piece thingy.
I guess I will make one also. I just wasn't sure it was a gasket the whole length of the part, or small rubber washers around the 4 studs. all that was left of the orginal was just around the studs.
So thanks for the description, it helps.

haven't contacted hennesy yet RE the taillamp gaskets...

if you can't find one, just glue some fender welt to the backside of the handle...

Steele Rubber has a preformed 'T' shaped molding that can be made to fit almost everything.

It worked around the tail light housings on my '53 coupe and the trunk lift bar.
