  • Here's something a little different...

I've been waiting for this guy to post pics of his car, now I'm not so sure...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Gives 'Different By Design' a whole new meaning, don't it?

That's "DIFFERENT" all right! Looks like '49-'50 Ford coupe rear roof section and window with portholes like a '57 T-Bird (or boat)! The fins look like they could except '61 Chrysler taillights & may also be from same! Then there's that front end????? You would definetly have a "one of kind" sorta Stude.

I know this is a reach. But isn't this the kind of car that ends up being worth millions when someone finds out it was customized by Barris or was owned by some real strange but important person, or most likely just a strange person. O'well better get to bidding, you never know.

"Big fins and a porthole were not Studebaker, it also looks like it was 'sectioned'."

Looks like an un-mutilated 61 Lark 4dr behind it.
Just looking again at the back ground in photos, there's some old cars there.

I was just cruising through the June 2006
edition of Hemmings Classic Car and lo and
behold this same car is in there and being
suggested that it might be 1 of the George
Barris cars, that he made for the old Batman
series that was on TV in the mid 60's. This
1 being the 1 used by Bugress Meredith as
"The Penguin" car...any takers on this idea?
I remember the series quite well, but not the
                          car........

It also suggests that it is a 50's Stude, with
eary T-Bird portholes, with a 1960 Chrysler tailend

For what it's worth, I've done a lot of reading on Barris and his cars and have never heard that he modified a Studebaker for the "Batman" show. He's pretty good about PR (an understatement) so I would think it would have been mentioned in one of the Barris/Hollywood car books I have.

That's not to say some other custom wasn't used in a "Batman" episode, but I don't think it was a Barris auto made for the series.

                              I agree, I think the seller/letter writer
to Hemmings is trying to put some twist
                              on his merchandise.....As I said, I don't
even remember this car at all on the series....

Hemmings didn't buy off on it either after
                              checking their Barris records.
