Wasn't someone doing a more modern bolt on front suspension for a Studebaker? I vaugely recall this but could not find anything when I was searching the other day.

yes, Rene Harger of Phantom. That said if set up right the stock Stude stuff isn't that bad, although the geometry can get a little weird at severe roll angles.
