Bolt pattern (as with all Stude cars from '51 up) is 5 on 5 1/2".

17.7" won't fit unless you tub it. :D

OK 15 5 1/4 bolt pattern, with the 17.7 is the .7 getting me in trouble? Could it be just 17.5? Our stock wheels are just 15.5 right?

The bolt pattern is 5X4-1/2. That .2 doesn't make a lot of difference. The widest wheel that will mount without rubbing will be a 6" wide wheel, and even then it will depend on the tire used. Remember, even the Corvettes of the time were running 15X5 wheels and using 7.75X15 rubber. Not a lot of room in the wheelhouses without doing minitubs.

Depends...
Stude used a 5X4&1/2 bolt pattern with a 6.70x15 bias ply tire (on 1961 Hawks').
Have your wheel/tire guy check your tire profile compared to the stock setup.
It 'might' fit with a 7" wide wheel, depending on the offset, and the sidewall profile.
But why you'd want to go there is another matter;)

You can fit an 8" wide wheel on the back of a Hawk with some careful measuring. I am running an 8" wheel with 255/60 tires. The front is more of a problem, but I wanted skinny tires on the front anyway.

studelover, are you really trying to fit a 17.7" wide wheel on your car? Or a 17" tall wheel?

Deep hock, I need something to make my hawk stand out. These hub cap just don't cut it. I saw some 16 and 17 inch wheels that have tire packages that I think can make the car a hit. The company Forte has a wheel that would look great on a hawk however it needs to be a 16x6 with a 205 45 16 I think It would fit. I would be giving up the white wall though. The color of my car and the interior must all be on the same level wheels and tires included[8)].
