I am a new member of the MN North Star SDC club. I have been in SDC for 7 years. I just bought my first Stude down in Oklahoma and need to ship it to Rochester, MN. I am not sure how to find a good reliable hauler who will do as promised for a fair price with no hidden fee or worse yet damage to my Stude.
Car is currently with previous owner near Joplin,MO, just across the line in rural Wyndotte, OK. Any comments of your experiences (good and/or bad) with haulers would be appreciated. Anyone with experience with PEG Trucking out of Wisconsin? My first Stude is a 1965 Daytona Sport Sedan in 3+ maybe 2- shape and I want to keep it that way. Thanks.

[:o)]I continue to have the best luck with Diamond Express out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their prices are invariably cheaper and their service is fantastic. Here is the email info for them: joe@diamondexptrans.com

I used PEG just about a year ago bringing my 57 Transtar Deluxe from Washington State to Kansas City. Excellent to work with. I highly recommend. Mention that you got a recommendation from the Stude Forum and they may discount. JDP recommends them often and that is how I first learned of them. :)
I used DAS out of Texas for one move BEFORE the one that PEG did and I'll never use them again! [B)]

I've had Pegs move a couple of cars. No problems. Good communication. On time. Great drivers and equipment.

Thanks for all the help. I called PEG TRucking from WI and they have a truck coming thru Joplin area yet this week. Peg is pretty sure she can get my car on it. I appreciate all the input on haulers. PEG Trucking sure seems to look for our Studebaker business. Very easy to work with.

The driver that picked up my truck appeared to know and care about what he was doing. I'm just not sure about those tire straps. [?] But, I know the use of them is common.

The cars that I have had picked up with the full size car carriers (10-11 cars...double deckers), the drivers wouldn't use the tire straps...even when insisted on by the customer. The drivers claim that the rigs bounce so much that unless you tie the cars down by the frame (and crank a lot of the travel out of the car springs) that they bounce around way too much and shake themselves to death.

It looked like the rig that picked up Goliath was a smaller one (3 cars?). Perhaps it is not as critical with the smaller trailers?

I just now looked at Peg Trucking's home page, www.pegtrucking.com , and the only brand of car they single out for business is Studebaker, thanks to JDP. Here's the excerpt:

We have worked for many years with the Studebaker Collectors Group (http://www.stude.com)(i.e. JOHN POULOS) providing many safe deliveries and we offer a Studebaker owners discount.

John, have you started a new club (the SCG) to compete with SDC? ;)
