View Full Version : swinging lock covers

Does anyone have a way to fix those little swinging covers like the kind on trunk locks on GT hawks? I figure there's no way to fix the little spring or whatever keeps them closed, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

You're probably not going to like this. I had the same problem on my 47 trunklock. Fortunately, I don't have to lock my trunk to close it.
So, I just put a little dab of Shoegoo on it and it stays right where it's supposed to!

Scott, you have probably thought of this as it is obviously the first thing to try. Maybe it is just dirty inside, especially if it was lubed in the past and that lubricant now is gummy with age or because it is full of dust. Perhaps a shot of WD40 will free it up and allow the cover to swing all the way closed. The one on my car still snaps shut without a problem so there is reason to suspect something besides a weak spring.
