The '53 grille molding is almost unbeliveably rare. When I tried to buy new ones in 1966 for my '53, they wer not available. The factory replacement was the '54 molding.

At the opening bid price on that grill molding, I would have to say I got a good deal on the restoration of mine. NOS originals never had the best chrome to begin with.

On mine, some pits went completely through the molding. The restoration and triple plated show chrome on all four pieces cost me $1600. If I had spent that money on a computer that would support a digital camera, I could show you the end result.[^]

WOW! The foglamps went for $700 and the single grille molding brought $620. That's about the same as show chrome restoration prices. DO NOT THROW THOSE CRAPPY PIECES AWAY!
