That does look like a nice car to start with. We had a '61 Lark Regal sedan with V8 and AT for a second car in the early '60s. It was an excellent car.
I don't see any signs of there ever having been "air conditioning" as stated. Air conditioning in 1961 Larks is special because it is the only Studebaker that had integral (with the heater) air conditioning.
You can tell that the "mechanic" didn't know Studebakers since he started to remove the front panel to get the engine out.
