I have 2 questions.
1. I recently removed my rear bumper to have it re-chromed. Should there be a valance under the bumper, or just open to the brackets?
2. Where can one obtain the oval bumper bolts?
Thanks.

There is a valance panel behind the bumper, kind of between the exhaust pipes. It actually attaches to the last frame crossmember. I would check SASCO and Stephen Allen for the bumper bolts.

OK, now that I realize I don't have the valance, anyone know where I can get one? Also, the way I see it on the bumpers, are the 2 outer ones round heads, and the 4 inner ones oval?

best bet is a swap meet or right here and yes, the outer bolts are round head.

Classic enterprises, the folks that make body parts for the Hawks carries those valances. Check the catalog!

Which valence are you referring to?
there is a valance that goees around the tailpipes, which is the one everyone seems to be talking about
but if I read you correctly, you mean the deflector pan from trunk lid to bumper?

those are swap meet items and their are differences between some of them- but if you're near Pittsburgh- I have three good ones sitting here since I keep grabbing ones for Hawks which are different from the nasty one on my 55

The valance I am referring to is the one underneath by th exhaust. I'm on the road for business, I'll check with CE whn I get home

CKOT...

when I bought my '55 it had the later style valence on it, and since I had to replace the exhaust I traded JP the late style one for an early one that he had in his parts stash. Now I don't know if he's got plans for it or not but you might want to drop him a line, it was pretty nice IIRC.
