Auto trans band adjustment

The manuel shows a front band adjusting tool. Looks like a measurment wedge for distance nut is to be tightened. Can anyone tell me what that distance is? Or is there another way of doing the adjustment ?
This is for a 57 GH.

I am pretty sure it is 1/4" as I posted in another thread, do a search or if you have an old Motor's manual laying around, they tell you how to do the adjustment with a 1/4" spacer and torque wrench

found this post and thought I'd put it here in case some one else needs the info-
The band adjusting wrenches are nothing more than a socket with a built
in torque limiting device so a common inch pound torque wrench can be
substituted. The front band adjuster has a spacer chained to it which
is a piece of 1/4" thick stock.
The actual torque settings are not as critical as the manuals would lead
you to believe. The whole idea of a band adjustment is to tighten the
band and then back off the adjuster a certain amount of turns to estab-
lish a desired amount of play. The front band adjusting torque is 10 in.
lbs. against the 1/4" spacer and, with the spacer removed, this is the
desired play. For the rear, 120 in. lbs. and then back off 1 1/2 turns.
Without a torque wrench a 1/4" drive ratchet can be used to just snug
the adjusters lightly.

That sounds about right. I didn't have an inch pound torque wrench when I had the pan off my car so I just used a 1/4" Allen wrench for my spacer and tightened the bolts "one grunt" before backing off the specified number of turns. My trans shifts great, if a little hard and late (that sounds like throttle pressure adjustment not band adjustment)
