  • Seatbelts, 60 Hawk

I was just reading another post and the subject was seatbelts on a GT Hawk. He was wondering if there were anchor bolts for the seatbelts under the carpet. I have the same question but my Hawk is a little older (1960)?

I don't think they were installed that early.

I am not sure if they are present on a '60; I know that by 1962 Studebaker was advertising that they were on all models (does that mean that they were on some previously, or none?) In any case it would be no big feat to just drill holes in the floor in the locations used for the anchors on 62-up Hawks and use the nuts and washers that come with the seatbelt kit; it will take two people to install them however unless you have *really* long arms If you tack weld the nuts to the washers and then the washers to the floor after installation it will be essentially the same as the factory installation.

Front and rear seat belts were an option in 1960. My 60 Hawk has them, but not from the factory.

The were a option starting in 1956, we just were trying to figure out when they added the floor mounts.
