View Full Version : Chevy 194 pistons in a 259?

I think long time ago I read in a turning wheel that chevy 194
pistons can be used in a 259.
If so, what modifications have to be made.
I am thinking perhaps the piston pin holes have to be reamed to the 259's diameter?
If anyone knows, please comment.

Yes, I do believe they will work with some mods, the bore & stroke are the same, the 194 has a bore of 3.563, our studes have a bore of 3.5625, which is real close! So they should work, maybe. Unless you have easy access to 194 pistons, I would support our vendors and get stude pistons.
Good luck!

Gotta remember to check the compression height.
The distance from the center of the wrist pin to the deck of the piston. I believe they are different.

Thanks for the ones that answered my query.
If any one remembers the turning wheel article on this I would appreciate knowing the year and issue.
