Anyone ever make a C/K car into a station wagon?

I've got a marginal 54 Conestoga.
I'll be looking at a C/K (forgot to ask!) this weekend.

I like wagons...
I know a guy that's good with this kind of body work. I'd also put a Lark roof center on it to further lower the roof line without actually chopping the top.

Soo...I'd end up with basically a sectioned, semi-chopped top C/K-Conestoga.

I think you would have a better fit if you started with a sedan body instead of a C/K. I don't think there are a lot of body panels that interchange, so you would end up doing a lot of sectioning to make it all fit and look right. I could be wrong, I am not good with body work. I would never attempt what you are talking about! Good luck with it!

It is possible, but not easy by any stretch of the imagination. It would take someone that is good at visualizing and completing major custom work along with a large dose of time and money. You are talking a four inch difference in wheelbase and a major difference in body section heights between a C/K and a sedan/wagon.

There was an article in one of last year's Rod & Custom where a guy took a '55 Conestoga and fit a C/K front end on it. Painted orange with a hemi, looked really sharp.

I would think mounting the wagons rear section on a C-K frame and adding the C-K clip might work with some mods.

Photoshop is a good place to play to get an idea of what looks good...
There are some 'interesting' wagon pic's up at:

That orange car was BS. If you look...it had a stock wagon front end. It's a bolt on from a 55 to a 54, is a snap. Look at the hood...the center is the wagon/sedan hood...not a C/K hood. May have had a few connections to change here and there...not a major swap.

The section height...nothing to do with anything!
Any wheelbase difference, yea...that may be something to deal with to get the look right. The side windows might need some attention to get the spacing right.

The guy that will do the work....if I get the car, is good at this kind of work...and really not that bad money wise. The big problem, he moved to Arizona about a year ago...so I gotta figure a way to get two cars to him. Good thing about him...he likes messing wagons too!
Plus...I'll have no time frame to finish it, so If he's got it for a while...not a big deal...that is, unless my Lark rusts out from under me!

So far just a pipe dream....I'll look at the 54 this weekend, and go from there.

Hey Mr. Jeff, here's one you can add to your phantom collection. It's not as "pro" looking as yours, but it looks ok. [8D]
