Speedometer cable question

I'm not 100% sure on this, but it looks like the cable (speedometer cable?) that goes into the front of my transmission has a leak around where it enters. Is that any easy fix or replacement? Some of the thin rubber, cable casing has worn away too.

I'm pretty sure it's the speedo cable since it goes from the transmission, htrough the firewall, and up to where my gauges should be.

That speedo cable plugs into the lefthand rear part of your tranny. It has to be to the rear because it uses a gear that runs off the tailshaft of the transmission.

BTW, if we're talking the speedo cable, there's a cork o-ring that that cable housing nose fits into. Probably not too hard to change if you're careful not to drop pieces inside the tranny case in the process.[}]

Cork gasket, part #515701 should solve the leak, if it is the speedometer cable. It's 1" inside diameter x 1 1/4" outside diameter. Easy enough to make if you have a gasket punch.
