I think I may have seen the answer to this some time ago....but...

For the 299 I'm building for my Conestoga, I'm eventually going to build a set of headers...but in the mean time, I'd like to install a set of the R3/R4/Avanti cast iron headers untill then.
I seem to remember something about a possible clearance situation.?

Does anyone know if there is any frame, steering interference problems with doing this.

Thanks

Mike

If you have Power Steering you may be screwed, not sure about the manual box, maybe N8 knows. I know Ron Butts on the Studebaker News group had issues even with a 59 manual box.

The issue I heard of was with the Saginaw power steering in an early C-K. I've had some people tell me it won't fit and some people tell me it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just waiting for JP to let me borrow the headers off of his white Hawk and then I'll let you all know if they fit or not :)

Alternately, if anyone wants to lend me a pair, I will gladly test fit them. :)

Yea...sorry I should have mentioned, no power steering or brakes, original steering, Ross box.

The R3/R4 exhaust manifolds should fit. The left one comes close to the steering box but there are plenty of Avanti's out there with these manifolds.

The Avanti never used the monster Saginaw box N8's 55 has though.
