I inherited a '63 Wagonaire last week. Cost me $50 bucks to have it towed to my place. There's NO front sheet metal and no drive line in it. Floors are rusty up front, but not bad. LR door is whacked bad, but COULD BE saved. Glass is all there and at this point it's still rollworthy.
I intend to reduce it to parts this weekend. If anyone wants anything off of it, I'd let you have it for some "packaging fee" + shipping. If you wanted to come by and pick your pieces up (unlikely, I know), it'll be right cheap - maybe free if you catch me at the right moment. I'd like to recoup at least my $50 bucks. It was either ME or the crusher for this thing and I just couldn't see all those neat parts get squawshed - that sorta thing's happening all to often nowdays.:(
I'll post some photos later so you can see what's there.[8D]

BTW for $50 bucks you can have the whole thing, but it has to leave here in a reasonable time frame.:)

Here's some pics. Apologies to those on dial-up.[:I]

I've got a cutting torch. YOU'LL have to figure how to get it to you. If I get involved in boxing and shipping (and carrying it to some depot - with gas at $3.12 a gallon!), I gotta get some recompense for my time/costs, no? Come by and cart it off? It's free![:0]

Actually, I could use the sliding roof panel. The one on my '64 has a rust hole in it.

If the tailgate is rusty, but has a good power window lift, save the motor. If the tailgate is NOT rusty, save it intact; they are getting scarce.

Hey Mr Biggs
What rear end and springs are in that thing. Gear ratio?

Thanks, Gordon

Bob,
I'd love to have the stainless off that car.. The stuff around the rear windows and upper door frames would be cool..
My 64 Commander Wagonaire is that same color and is to "plain" looking..
Having never done that on a Stude I don't know if it's possible.. I'm assuming you do know..
If possible, what would you want for the stuff?
My car isn't going to be a show car, just a nice looking driver when I get it done..

I'll get some answers to these questions today. gordr, the roof's yours if we can work out a "relay". I know Dick's in CA this week but I don't know how close he's gonna come to Vislaia.

Hey Dick! Still have a few pommelos here! [:p]

That'll get his attention![}:)]

AND, if he was gonna go north anyway, George's trim stainless could go along - OR - in a box. Yes, George, you could put this on. In fact, I think I have a full set off a wagon around here someplace. I'd intended to put it on the 66 I once had.[:I]

Hi Bob,

Please let me know what you want for that stainless..
Yep, Dick drives thru Grants Pass on his trips up and down the 5 freeway..
If he is ok with bringing it up this way I'd appreciate it.. Otherwise I'm ok with shipping..
Thanks!

I'm only getting as far south as San Jose this trip...and we have the Jetta and not the truck. Maybe next trip?

Also, the Portland Swap meet is the middle of next month. Maybe someone on this group is coming north for that.

Hey Mr Biggs! You think 3.12 is bad? How about 3.50 at the BP-76 here in Lewiston.

Yes, and I'm glad it's happened. This wagon's been sitting in Three rivers for at least 20 years now. I'll get the straight story from the tow service guy that's had it all that time, but I think I remember him telling me (years ago) that it had come to town in the course of someone's vacation and something major went south, mechanically speaking. Opting not to fix it, it ended up behind the tow garage for decades:(.
StudeKen came to have custody of it eventually and with his moving to Oregon last week, the wagon faced going to the scrapper as Ken wasn't in a position to take it with him. Having seen it many times, I couldn't let it go without saving some of it and finding homes for the stuff. Before I'm done with it, I intend to cut the front part of the frame off and make it into another engine dolly.:D

In talking to the tow guy (Pat), I mentioned that I might like to buy the window regulators out of a 61 Lark he's got at his garage. He allowed as how I could have them for free if I wanted since he's trying to clear out as much stuff as he can.
Just what I need - another car to strip! And besides that - he's got a really straight and solid 65 4dr that I could probably claim if I wanted. <sigh>[B)]

Well, the doors are off and the sliding roof is out. gordr, it'll be waiting for whenever someone is headed north.
I think the right doors are spoken for as well as the wiring harness. I'm waiting for an answer on them.
I've taken the other roof parts off (rails, stops, etc..) and removed the exterior stainless that George wanted for his wagon.

I'm gonna get the tailgate off as well as the gas tank and then I'm gonna torch out the spare tire well. So many wagons have had these rust away over the years. Sadly, the rear quarters have gone the way that most of them have thru the years. The boxed in quarters and the fact that the roof drains emptied into those areas...:([xx(]

Mr. Biggs, does that 65 still have the bellhousing? Was it a V8 or a 6? If you do opt for the 65, I might be interested in that part.

Whacker, this thing's a '63. No bellhousing whatsoever, BUT... I think I DO have a BH for a 65/66 V8 automatic if you need one.:)

Mike, what metal panels are you talking about? These:?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Studebaker-Wagonaire-rear-inner-trim-pieces_W0QQitemZ190096683148QQcategoryZ34206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewIte m.

Sadly, those plastic (vacu-formed) pieces at the front of the rails are only partly intact. If you want what's left of them, they're yours.[:I]
Looking at those very pieces the other day, I wondered to myself, if those were the FIRST (maybe the only?) Vacu-formed pieces that found their way onto Studebakers before their demise. Can anyone think of any other vacu-formed plastic parts. Avantis maybe?
I'll check the regulator. I know the pass side is good.

Klif, you might be right about that! That and the formed plastic "brow" on the truck dashes starting with the E series. But more specifically, I was thinking about vacuum molded parts. I don't know why, but I have the notion that the dash pieces were injection molded. I'd like to know for sure.:)

Well, I've got just about everything removable off of this wagon. Bob, I never have heard from you about the doors and harness. No biggie mind you, I just don't wanna sell them out from under you!:(

Today I was stipping the dashboard and in the course of doing so, I mused to myself as to where they might have stuck the Body Color Label on these 63s with their rotating glove box (Vanity). As soon as I had the vanity off, my question was answered.:D http://images.andale.com/f2/115/106/906179/2007/4/5/Color_label.jpg

For those of you that don't know, Studebaker would glue these color labels on the underside of the glove box. This remains of one gives you an idea of what they look like. BTW, this one says the car was Rose Mist.;)
