  • What gauge of metal was used back in the day?

    just wondering if anybody knew the gauge of metal used back in the studey days?

    I assume that you mean exterior body sheet metal. You would have to narrow your question down some. A 1920s Studebaker would have different gauge metal than a 1960s Studebaker. If you mean the gauge of metal in the frame, that might be even harder to answer, without asking about a particular car. For example on later cars, V8s had a heavier gauge frame than sixes and the gauge of metal of C/K frames increased through the years from 1953 to 1964 (increments, not every year).
