View Full Version : Air filter element

Ok, tried the search function, but drew a blank. The service manual just says replace with stock filter, duh!

Anyone know offhand what specific air filter element can be used in the stock air filter housing (dry type) for a '62 Hawk 289?

And I suppose while I'm at it, might as well ask for what spin on oil filter this rascal uses, (the one that goes on the underside of the block, not on top)?

Thanks,

Karl

Karl, the filters will be available at most of your FLAPS. I just did a quick check for Auto Zone and found that the oil filters are in stock and the air filters can be ordered online (not kept in stock at the store).

Most Studebaker vendors, such as SI, Stephen Allen's, etc., will also carry these normal maintenance items.

[u]OIL FILTERS</u>

Fram: PH-11 ($3.69@AZ)
Purolator: L30005
STP: S25 ($3.19@AZ)

[u]AIR FILTERS</u>

Fram: CA168PL
Purolator: A40048
STP: AF168 ($9.99@AZ - website only)

Studebaker P/N: 1552494 ($13.25 @ Stephen Allen's)

Hope this helps.

As long as it is current, up to date, and has multiple sources...yes!

you want current and up to date? HA HA HA HA HA

seriously, I do what I can, but between holding down a real job and actually attempting to work on stuff every now and then, it's only occasionally when I'll have a chance to do a "research blitz" and try to flesh it out some more. I know that the brake parts section is a little sketchy, and there's some other issues with it, but I'm trying.

Hey Nate, I checked and sure 'nuff, there they were, "air filter", "oil filter", and whole bunch of other good stuff.

I gotcha "bookmarked" now. Thanks!

Jeff, thanks for the Luberfiner link. I'll have to try to get their P/Ns incorporated into "the list" some day when I'm bored.
