This tranny would bolt into a 58 or later Champion, The 57 & earlier Champions had a different configuration to the output end of their trannys because of the 2-piece driveshaft arrangement that was used thru 1957. Also, 58 was the first year the O/D system didn't use a relay. It's solenoid is different than earlier ones.

BTW, bill - I never thought to ask if you car has a straight, one-piece driveshaft or a two-piece. 2-piece would indicate a '57, one-piece would mean '58. IS your's a one-piece?:)

Just more proof that your car is basically a 1958 model with some 1957 items changed over to it.

Just wondering if this stick setup from a 6 would bolt up to an 8?, as long it is a 1958.

Nope.

Six cylinder cars used a T96 tranny; V8s used a T86 tranny. Different bolt pattern, different length and spline on input shaft. Even if you did manage to make the T96 bolt up behind an eight, it would not stand up; simply too light for the application.

I don't think it would without some finagling. And at that, that T-96 wouldn't stand up behind that V8 for long.[xx(]
