1929 Dictator?

I'm in the very early stages of restoring what I was told is a 1929 Dictator. Things I've come across while researching makes me question that info.

A plate on the firewall, passenger side reads "GEW-2" on the top line. Second line reads "11211"

On the right side of the 6 cylinder engine block, above the water pump is stamped GE 44903 (I'm not 100% positive on the "E", hard to read)

Both the block and head are marked "H 9 15" The Head has casting #127261-1, the block 127353-1.

The car has 6.00 x 20 tires, wood spokes, 4 doors, cloth top, two small lights up near windshield in addition to headlights.

The rear has two small bumpers, on the outside corners, with a spare tire carrier between.

Is this car what I think it is? Where do I find parts and literature to aid in the rebuild?

Pre WWII Studebakers are a bit out of the area of specialty for many at this forum site, but your question may well bring some good answers...

I hope you find out what you want to know. thing is, we're almost exclusively focused on post-WWII Studebakers here. While SDC does recognize prewar Studes, there's the Antique Studebaker Club which is focused on the earlier cars.
The GEW-2 WILL identify the car pretty well. The 11211 only denotes the 11,211th body that was assembled (and that doesn't necessarily mean you've got the 11,211th DICTATOR assembled)

There should also be a serial number plate affixed to the frame rail _ just behind the left front wheel

Here is what little I do know. The 1928 and 29 Dictators were both model GE. The engine numbering started at GE-1 in 1928 and ran chronologically through 1929 production. The vehicle serial number for a 1929 model should be between 1437601 and 1460000. There were also Canadian models with a different serial number range. The engine casting date is 1928, August 15th.

I have aGE W-2 type 2. The W-2 stood for the royal sedan/ 4 door. The GE was made in three types and many of the parts are not interchangeable between them. If your's is a 1929 GE it should have the lip sunvisor under the roof edge. Type 1 and 2 have the sunvisor that is the extension of the upper roof line. The engines are mostly similar but they also have various component changes. In 1929 they also made the GL dictator.

I have a September 1928 parts list just for the GE Dictator that lists the parts breaks in far greater detail than the later parts book which leaves out some of them. good luck with your restoration.

As Stude body types go, "W" has stood for 4-door all along. "Y" was introduced in later years to denote the long-wheelbase 4-doors (Land Cruisers, President States, President Classics and Cruisers.
