What is the difference between an Avanti 289 and a Hawk 289? Are some engine parts interchangable?

Some interchanges will work, but not directly or are incorrect. Different pistons, heads, carb, manifold, cam, oil pan, distributor, timing gear, intake & water pump manifolds and more.

Not even close. The Avanti, and the Avanti engined Larks/Hawks use a different vibration damper and the Avanti car uses a big, heavy 3 groove cast iron pulley.

I have been looking for a three grove pulley to put on my 289. Going to hook up air, and power steering. That type of pulley will not work?quote:Originally posted by JDP

No, even if you could mount it on a standard 289, it would not line up with anything. Studebaker just stacks the single pullys with a spacer.
