The ignition key on my '51 Champion is missing, lost in transit. What are my alternatives for replacing it?

REMOVE THE IGNITION SWITCH (D/C BATTERY FIRST!)THEN TAKE THE SWITCH TO A LOCKSMITH. I'VE HAD PRETTY GOOD LUCK WITH THE LOCAL 'SMITH DOING THIS, THEY CAN MAKE A NEW KEY PRETTY QUICK.

Use the door lock key (shallow attempt at humor).

Ask a locksmith if he (or she) can make a key to match the pins in your doorlock (assuming it, or the ignition, have not been changed over the years). The door lock should match the ignition. If it can be done, you'll have to access and remove the door lock,or remove the ignition switch to access it's pins. The alternative is replace the ignition switch if you can find one with a key. Then you may want to have the door lock repinned to match the ignition.

Key blanks are available from major vendors.
